The Baptism of the Lord
To the faithful of London South and Springbank Catholic family of parishes, greetings!
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers and staff that have worked so hard over the Advent and Christmas seasons to make our celebrations truly worship and joyful celebrations. In my travels amongst the various parishes, I have been encouraged by the enthusiasm of our people and their warm welcomes. When I see the number of young families with children at our various Masses – this is evidence of the health of these various communities. In this Holy Year, this Jubilee of Hope, we need to be attentive to the signs of hope and life that surround us. It is easy to be distracted by bad news, or various struggles in our world but Hope does not disappoint – Christ our Hope. I would like to thank all the ushers, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, the lectors, the greeters, the sacristans, altar servers, money counters, the beautiful choirs and musicians – all of you who give to the Lord of your time, treasure, and talent. To my collaborators in ministry, our lay ecclesial ministers, fellow priests, our deacons, and all our staff that help the day-to-day operations continuing, thank you for your generosity of spirit.
On behalf of Fr. Ivica, Fr. Paul, and Fr. Rob, I would like to thank all of you for your kind messages and gifts that we received at Christmas – it is truly appreciated.
Today we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord – another epiphany, a manifestation of God and his love and mercy for the world. Today we mark the beginning of Christ’s public ministry. Today we hear the words of love and affirmation from the Father, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased.” This message is not only for Christ, but for you and I as well. We too are the children of God. The Father looks at us with love and calls us too…the beloved. We are the beloved of God. We are called, anointed, and sent forth to be the light of Christ to others, by our words and actions.
On this feast of the Baptism of the Lord let us renew our own baptismal call, let us go forth as pilgrims of hope in the world.

Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor
A los fieles de la Familia de Parroquias Católicas de Sur de London y Springbank, ¡saludos!
Quisiera aprovechar esta oportunidad para agradecer a todos nuestros voluntarios y personal que han trabajado tan arduamente durante las temporadas de Adviento y Navidad para hacer que nuestras celebraciones sean verdaderos momentos de adoración y alegría. En mis recorridos por las diversas parroquias, me ha alentado el entusiasmo de nuestra gente y sus cálidas bienvenidas. Cuando veo la cantidad de familias jóvenes con niños en nuestras diversas misas, es una señal de la vitalidad de estas comunidades. En este Año Santo, este Jubileo de la Esperanza, debemos estar atentos a los signos de esperanza y vida que nos rodean. Es fácil distraerse con malas noticias o con las diversas dificultades de nuestro mundo, pero la Esperanza no defrauda – Cristo es nuestra Esperanza. Quiero agradecer a todos ministros extraordinarios de la Eucaristía, lectores, hospitalidad, sacristanes, monaguillos, contadores, a los hermosos coros y músicos – a todos ustedes que entregan al Señor su tiempo, habiliodades y talentos. A mis colaboradores en el ministerio, nuestros ministros eclesiales-laicos , hermanos sacerdotes sacerdotes, diáconos y todo nuestro personal que ayuda en el funcionamiento diario, gracias por su generosidad de espíritu.
En nombre del el Rev. Ivica y el Rev. Paul, y Rev. Rob queremos agradecerles a todos por sus amables mensajes y regalos que recibimos en Navidad – realmente los apreciamos.
Hoy celebramos el Bautismo del Señor – otra epifanía, una manifestación de Dios y su amor y misericordia para el mundo. Hoy marcamos el inicio del ministerio público de Cristo. Hoy escuchamos las palabras de amor y afirmación del Padre: “Tú eres mi Hijo, el Amado; en ti me complazco.” Este mensaje no es solo para Cristo, sino también para ti y para mí. Nosotros también somos hijos de Dios. El Padre nos mira con amor y también nos llama… los amados. Somos los amados de Dios. Estamos llamados, ungidos y enviados a ser la luz de Cristo para los demás, a través de nuestras palabras y acciones.
En esta fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, renovemos nuestro propio llamado bautismal y salgamos como peregrinos de esperanza en el mundo.

Krštenje GospodnjeVjernicima katoličke obitelji župa London South i Springbank, pozdrav!
Ovom prilikom želim zahvaliti svim našim volonterima i djelatnicima koji su se tijekom adventskog i božićnog vremena toliko trudili da naša slavlja budu istinski bogoslužna i radosna slavlja. U mojim putovanjima po raznim župama ohrabren sam entuzijazmom naših ljudi i njihovom toplom dobrodošlicom. Kad vidim broj mladih obitelji s djecom na raznim našim misama – to je dokaz zdravlja ovih raznih zajednica. U ovoj Svetoj godini, ovom Jubileju nade, trebamo biti pozorni na znakove nade i života koji nas okružuju. Lako je biti ometen lošim vijestima ili raznim borbama u našem svijetu, ali Nada ne razočarava – Krist naša Nada. Želio bih zahvaliti svim poslužiteljima, izvanrednim služiteljima euharistije, lektorima, pozdravnicima, sakristanima, poslužiteljima oltara, brojačima novca, prekrasnim zborovima i glazbenicima – svima vama koji darujete Gospodinu svoje vrijeme, blago, i talent. Mojim suradnicima u službi, našim crkvenim službenicima laicima, kolegama svećenicima, našim đakonima i svom osoblju koje pomaže da se nastavi svakodnevno djelovanje, zahvaljujem na vašoj velikodušnosti duha.
U ime vlč. Ivica, fra. Pavla, te vlč. Robe, želio bih zahvaliti svima vama na ljubaznim porukama i darovima koje smo primili za Božić – to je uistinu cijenjeno.
Danas slavimo Krštenje Gospodinovo – još jedno Bogojavljenje, očitovanje Boga i njegove ljubavi i milosrđa prema svijetu. Danas obilježavamo početak Kristova javnog djelovanja. Danas slušamo riječi ljubavi i potvrde od Oca: “Ti si moj Sin, Ljubljeni; s tobom sam jako zadovoljan.” Ova poruka nije samo za Krista, već i za vas i mene. I mi smo djeca Božja. Otac nas gleda s ljubavlju i također nas naziva… ljubljenim. Mi smo miljenici Božji. Pozvani smo, pomazani i poslani da svojim riječima i djelima budemo Kristovo svjetlo drugima.
Na ovaj blagdan Krštenja Gospodinova obnovimo vlastiti krsni poziv, pođimo kao hodočasnici nade u svijet.
